Bubble Photography Information

For the October 20th meeting, please bring bubble wands/bubble mix (bubble mix can be made with dishwashing soap + water) and your cameras.

Also, you should be keeping large versions of your photo (a minimum of 2000 px across) in landscape format for when we publish the end of year book, which includes edited photos.

New Attendance Policy

You must attend at least 2 meetings a month. Preferably more, but if you cannot, you must make the effort to come to at least 2 meetings a month. If you know in advance that you cannot attend the meeting, please email us in advance to let us know for an excused absence. Excused absences count for half an attendance. If you are on probation, you must attend 3 meetings the next month to get off the probation list. If you only attend 2 meetings, you will continue to stay on the probation list but will not be kicked out. If you attend 1 meeting or do not go to any meetings at all while on the probation list, you will be kicked out of PhotC. If you wish to rejoin after being kicked out, you will need to pay another club entrance fee of $5. Because this policy was not clearly announced before, the month of September did not count. This policy will begin in October 2009. If you have any questions, please contact Jenny Min or another PhotC officer. Thank you for your cooperation.

Also, please continue to submit your pictures (especially the silhouette ones) to Flickr! :)

Reminder

Please remember to upload your pictures to Flickr and if you haven’t done so already, submit them to the group.

And if you haven’t registered for an account yet or haven’t joined the group, please do so.

PS: Jenny Min, please get the attendance together (if you haven’t done it already). Also – Get well soon, Dina, Jenny, and Cherry! : )

Informamations

and reminders.

Remember to sign up for flickr guys – and when you do, join the NHS Photography Club group.  Upload your photos to your account and add them to the group pool if there are any in particular you really like :D

If any of you couldn’t make it this week, we went over lots of basic information about photography and had a practice shooting in the courtyard.

Regardless of if you made it or not, here’s some useful links :]

overexcited link text:

EXPOSURE!!

RULE OF THIRDS!!

MACROS!!

So look over those, all of you.  Even if you think you know these things it might still help.  Probably.

As a closing reminder, if you haven’t yet paid the $5 and still plan to come, please remember next week!

Comment here or Email NHSPhotC@gmail.com for any concerns.

First Post of the Year!

Well, I was apparently appointed website-person, so I guess I should get used to the prospect.

I’m not even sure if new members were told about the website. But I’m updating anyway, since it’s the first meeting and all.

First meeting has passed! If you decide to show up next week, here are some things to note:

  • Bring Camera! (Again, camera phones don’t count.) We’ll be using them next week!
  • Bring Dues! $5 – if you didn’t already do this, you need to bring it in next week. Cash only please – we don’t do checks.
  • Flickr Account! Make one and upload your best picture(s) onto it as a sample, if you have any (if not, take some).

I think that’s about it.  If I forgot anything I’ll update this or something.

…Welcome to PhotC! -awkward smile-

Concerning future meetings

I realize that we’re all probably getting tired of this chain of emails but this is, once again, very important. (GUYS WHO STILL HAVEN’T SENT PHOTOS JENNY I AM LOOKING AT YOU PRZ BE SENDING. once again, please utilize www.sendspace.com for your large zipping. :D )

WE NEED EVERYONE TO SHOW UP NEXT MEETING. If you don’t recall why-

1. there’s a huge possibility we’re presenting the Zeus Book to Z himself that day. (Someone remind me to write the note to put in there.)

2. it will be the Awards Day for PhotC. We can’t pull off something as ~special~ as like VIP or Honors Night but we’re doing our own little ceremony. :D It’ll be supremely informal and casual.

3. I’ll be going through and showing you guys the shots I took from the wallshoot the day Ayane’s box came. Remember posing against NHS’s brick wall outside? :) I need approval for which shot you guys like best to publish in the book.

We actually only have two more meetings left- this year went by fast. I don’t know how the rest of you feel but I’m sort of shocked. Epsi and I will be pulling together the photobook and going after Cherry for the funds to buy it- and hopefully we’ll have it by the end of this school year, although most likely not in time for the last meeting. (The Zeus book kind of took it out of us.)

I’m vaguely thinking of planning an end of year party for the meeting after next- what do you think? :D I have this idea of us going to Hmart or Mozart and using the rest of our funds (I’ll probably get the rest if it’s not enough) for a cake to split with all the members. And we’ll celebrate by all macroing the food before we eat it. Let me know of your thoughts on this~

Other than that, thanks for a supremely awesome year. :D You two freshies, you guys are awesome. You’ll be carrying on our legacy when we’re gone!

GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS!

…..yes. It’s Fake-yearbook making time! And so, we’d like to pound down some rules, just to be lame.

First of all, we’d like to fill over 80 pages. Why, you might ask? Well, Blurb doesn’t let you customize the spine until you reach 80 pages. And I really really wanna customize the spine. so please. SEND LOTS OF PICTURES. We’d like for every member to select 7 best shots of sorts…Or more!

Granted that they follow the following guidelines. These are very unflexible guidelines. :D

THINGS NOT TO DO.

  • No camwhoring, group or otherwise.
  • No tiny tiny resized images. DEREK.
  • Because this yearbook is NOT YOUR FACESPACE.
  • No badly manipulated photos. Bad manips burn holes in a photographer’s elbows. So don’t do it.

And….THINGS TO DO. :D hey look. it’s a to-do list! HOKAI!

  • Photos taken within this school year. And July 2008, if you’re desperate.
  • Artistic self portraits, which is totally separate from camwhoring. The difference, you ask? Artistic self portraits are artsy, and camwhoring is slutty. or just lame. And in an artistic self portrait, you aren’t being lame enough to hold the camera yourself or use a lame mirror.
  • Large, nicely edited photos. doesn’t that sound so awesome? :D
  • Artsyfartsyness! Make Kim proud, even if you’ve never had her for an art teacher.
  • Photos of Ayane.
  • Black and white photos are kewl. Color photos are kewl too.
  • Film is good, as long as you scan at high DPI.  Or, worst case, hand them to Epsi, and I’ll take care of it.
  • Vivian is a nonconformist, like hydrogen.
